The Women's League of the Charlie Keyan Armenian Community School is pleased to announce that they have completed a major fund raising project. The newly published Heritage Cooking Series consists of a cookbook with accompanying 9 DVD's which highlight the chefs preparing their specialty dish. Favorite Armenian appetizers, main dishes, salads and desserts are a part of the Heritage Cookbook.
The Heritage Cookbook came about because of a highly acclaimed series of cooking lessons held at Gottschalks Coffee Shop in Manchester Center, Fresno, California from 1997-2001. Each year there were from 4-6 sessions held with guest chefs demonstrating their special dish and a tasting of the foods held afterwards. Those in the audience were able to ask questions of the chefs, learn of the background of the foods and compare notes on family recipes handed down through the generations. Each chef was chosen as an expert of the food they were preparing. Delicious Armenian and Mediterranean foods are part of this series.
The Women's League documented these lessons visually and with recipes, and now they are available not only as a printed resource as a cookbook, but also, as DVD's which show the chefs as they prepare their dish and explain tips and techniques that are easy to understand and see.
This cookbook/DVD set is a true resource in any home. All chefs whether they are beginners or seasoned veterans will enjoy the easy format of the cookbook/DVD series.
Cross references help one to find the exact recipe they wish to view on the DVD's. An index assists in finding the dish one wishes on make.
The celebrity chefs (students of the Armenian Community School): Sara Beberian, Gabriella Nishanian, Alena Kutumian, Phoebe Adamyan and Taleen Kalajian bring their own cooking experiences to life on the page. They tell how to make their own Armenian favorites in their own words.
We thank Arminee Shishmanian for her beautiful painting ‘Time for Coffee' which is on the cover of the cookbook. There are many drawings included in the cookbook which the students drew depicting fruits, vegetables, etc. Thanks to all those who helped.
The Heritage Cookbook and 9 DVD's cost $50.00 and all proceeds benefit the Charlie Keyan Armenian Community School. To find out more about the Heritage cookbook please call (559) 431-5259 or the Charlie Keyan Armenian Community School at (559)323-1955.
